Movies represent the "miracle" of 20th century entertainment. Based on the technology of photography but inspired from real life events, books or plays.

Types of movies:

- a serries of movies, with lots of episodes
- TV movie ( Hallmark type )
- cinema movie

These types are in a specific order, sorted by the work and money put into their production:

1) home-movies are not usally comercial, so there is no need to pour a lot of money and effort into them to make'em likable. The film is not made with the help of actors, but captured from real life.
2) semi-professional movies are simple films of "party-type" events, like weddings filmed and produced by a specific firm. These films are accesible and are quite nice to watch
3) professional movies are made for TV ads or presentations, usually these are short and may vary in quality but their main purpuse is to transmit a clear message.
4) for TV, studios create films that come in a serries, made of episodes.. wich may vary from dozens to thousands ( soaps ). These film are extreamly comercial; usually money is invested with much care in these movies, yet if they have succes, they have succes BIG TIME. These movies are for relaxing, and should never be taken seriously. ( soaps, sid-coms, etc ).
5) Movies specially made for TV are usually lame, very comercial, with cheap stunts and cheap special effects (mainly action movies), but will satisfy in a small measure the viewer's appetite for entertainment.
6) Cinema movies are most apreciated forms of film in the World. These movies have huge bugets, especially in HollyWood. They employ lots of actors. The filmming takes place in huge studios wich can be rigged to create the inner world of the movie. This is the largest movie industry in the World, creating "block-busters" and famous people at the same time.

The process:

1. Filming- this is the part where the cameras are used, wether it's a home-movie or a block-buster, the whole of it is captured. In home and semi proffesional movies, the filming is done with almost no chance for "another take", this means no mistakes! This is why making small movies is difficult. You have to get a lot of material, this means filming 5-6 hours non-stop.. even more; this means knowing what you will be needing for the final cut, so you do a lot of "pre-editing". Also you need to secure the perfect conditions so that quality is preserved, this means good light and sound. Finding the best angles to fit in all you can or angles to reveal specific aspects of people is quite tricky, yet is has to be done.
Cinema movies are filmed in the ideal way. Lots of camera, so more angles coverd at the same time; good light and sound; actors wich follow a certain script, so you know what to film next, what will happen; the chance to film the same scene twice or more, so the movies comes out flawless, expensive equipment and special filmming effects ( effects wich are filmed with the film and not edited in later )... but all these thing cost a lot of money!

2. Editing- this is the long and borring procedure from wich the "final cut" results. Editing is needed in all types of movies, it is how you make a begging and an end for the movie, it's how you give shape to it. While editing, scenes are cut out, useless scenes... to make the film less borring; bloopers (mistakes), to make the film flawless; ugly scenes, wich might disturb the viewer ( home-movies mostly )... and anything the editor might consider to be unfit for the final product. On small projects, the cameraman may coincide with the editor, so he also knows what the people would want of the movie ( unlike cinema movies wich care comercial ), and in this way he can create "a perfect match" for the client's needs. During editing, special movie effects can be added to enahnce the action, also there can be added all sorts of titles and texts that clarify the movie... for example: quotes that match the theme of the movie or subtitles or credits at the end of the movie...
Also during editing sounds and background music can be added ( soundtrack ). These enahnce the perception of the movie.
Editing takes a lot of time because you have to watch the whole movie in small segments, and watch them again and again and again, untill everything is perfect.. well you can imagine that for a small movie you need a few hours of film, and the final product is actually a dozen minutes and in a big movie there is a tone of material wich takes weeks to edit... and it all comes out in a 2 hour long movie.

3. Ending it- after the 2 big procedures are done, you need to create something with the movie... wether it is huge block-buster wich is anounced with 6 months in advance ... of course part of a campaign, wich may also include websites, teasers, comercials, posters.. and a whole lot of other marketing objects, wether it's a small movie made especially for just a few people, personalized and made to preserve memories for them... it has to mean something.
